New to Church?

Ackworth Community Church is a church where our doors are wide open to everyone, whatever your background, and wherever you’re from.

If you’re one of the many people that have only attended church for christenings, weddings and funerals, then you’ve come to the right page to find our more about our church. If you’re a Christian and already attend church then you may want to look into what we believe.  Our passion is to present the truth of the Christian message in a way that connects with everyone from every walk of life.

When you show up for an event or service you may want to know what to expect, so here are some frequently asked questions:

Do I need to be a member?
No, anyone can come. You don’t have to be a Christian, a member or anything else for that matter. You just come as you are. It is our prayer that as you come along that many of your questions about life, God and Christianity will be answered.

What should I wear?
Some people turn up in jeans and a t -shirt, whilst others wear trousers and a shirt. Whatever you’d wear normally, wear that when you come.

How old are people in your church?
Ages vary from a few months to people in their 80’s. All are welcomed.

What do I do when I first arrive?
We understand that it’s hard to walk into somewhere where you don’t know anybody, so there’ll be someone around to welcome you and say hello. Feel free to sit anywhere.

Do I have to pray, sing or take part?
Nope! Unless, that is, you want to. Our Sunday church services usually have singing, praying, a speaker and some media content. You can listen or join in. It’s up to you. You definitely won’t be asked to pray or stand out the front, or feel uncomfortable in any way.

What is the singing like?
Our music is a mix of contemporary styles and some hymns. The instruments used are usually a keyboard and a guitar.

How long does the service last?
It usually runs from 10.30am to around 12.00.

Do I have to pay?
No, we do not expect you to pay. However, there is an opportunity to give at services. If you’d like to give then feel free, but it’s not expected.

What about child care?
Children are well catered for at kids church on Sundays. Also have a look at the Messy Church page, families love it!.
